Are you still working from a desk that was hurriedly set up during lockdown… and never properly thought about again? You’re not alone. Many London homeowners carved out a temporary work-from-home setup in 2020. The dining table became a desk. A spare bedroom became “the office.” A dark corner became “good enough.”

You’ve bought the period property of your dreams and moved in, but now realise that the Victorian charm you fell in love with is hiding below many layers of (probably leaded) paint, peeling wallpaper and layouts that aren’t practical for modern family life. 

This is the third post in my Design Clinic series where I answer your interior design challenges. Sarah sent me this photograph of the front door of her Edwardian terraced home. My first thought was "Wow! Amazing tiles!"

As we head towards winter in the UK, it felt fitting that I should write about the subject of heating and its role in interior design.

Thanks to Julia for sending in photos of her in-progress living room (above). This is a 1905, Edwardian home and Julia wants to create a 'cosy, timeless room that celebrates craftsmanship, light and everyday comfort'. She has been restoring it with an Arts and Crafts influence (as you can see in the beautiful ceiling rose).
